Buffalo Capture

When animals need to be relocated, a specialised capture team comes into to do the job. This is hands-on and adrenaline fuelled work!

Humpback whales can dive for up to 30 minutes to a depth of 150-210 m!

Thirsty elephant

Elephants don't drink with their trunks, but use them as "tools" to drink with. This is accomplished by filling the trunk with water and then using it as a hose to pour it into the elephant's mouth.

Roan antelope

Between 1986 and 1993, the roan antelope population in the Kruger National Park, South Africa, declined from about 450 to 45 animals. At Hanchi and Zingela these animals are being bred. Volunteers monitor their densities, age and condition on horseback.

Work with children

The word Nholwasi means ‘to build and work together’, and this project provides the opportunity to do just that. The programme focuses on hands-on environmental education amongst the youth in the Hoedspruit and Acornhoek areas.
