African Conservation Experience work with experienced marine biologists on projects in South Africa and Mauritius. These projects are ideal if you have a passion for the marine environment and are hoping to broaden your knowledge of marine conservation and research. As a marine conservation volunteer you will contribute to the projects' work by:
- Collecting environmental data on a number of cetacean species
- Monitoring tour boat traffic and its impact on dolphin populations
- Educating local school kids about the marine wildlife and conservation
At the Coastal Conservation and Education Project you assist renowned marine scientists studying the populations of humpback and bottlenose dolphins, byrde whales, humpback whales, and southern right whales, along South Africa’s coast.
As a marine conservation volunteer at the Mauritius Marine Research Project you assist with monitoring and controlling the impact of eco tourism on the local populations of spinner dolphins, melon headed dolphins and bottle nosed dolphins.
