International Sales and Administration Assistant - African Conservation Experience

African Conservation Experience are a conservation travel operator with over 15 years experience in organising wildlife conservation volunteering placements. The US is a largely growing volunteer market and we are looking for a new member of the team to deal with US volunteer sales and support.

Core Responsibilities

  • Advise potential volunteers on project choice and secure their commitment to a placement
  • Handle communications with volunteers from the Americas, from initial enquiries to brochure requests, placement applications and travel documentation
  • Set up conservation placements for volunteers joining us from the Americas
  • Provide support to the administration team, including logistical support to volunteers, sourcing flights and insurance
  • Processing payments from clients using online financial payment gateway
  • Keeping up to date accounting records for clients,  including following up overdue payments using online Business Management System 
  • Work with the US marketing team to communicate with new marketing leads

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • A passion for wildlife conservation and Africa
  • Strong sales experience
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong administration skills
  • Self-motivated and independent worker, also good at working in a team environment
  • Good computer literacy
  • Able to work evening hours to communicate across the Americas time zones

Desirable Criteria:

  • Qualification in a relevant Science subject strongly desirable 
  • Experience in a sales role in the travel industry
  • Experience in international travel - southern Africa preferable

Salary: £18,000 pa pro rata

Working hours: Monday to Friday: 2pm - 8pm GMT: 30 hours per week

ACE Resident Techie

Salary Range: £25,000 - £30,000 pa pro rata

Position:  Part time, 20 hours per week

Location: Rural office, South Gloucestershire

With the current rapid development in technology, we are keen to embrace new and innovative technology to improve the way we communicate, do business and assess new opportunities. We are looking for an experienced and capable individual who can develop and advise on the platforms and software to enhance our offering to our conservation enthusiasts and partner programmes, and improve our processes internally. 

Job Description

To liaise with all departments within ACE, advise on and implement software and platforms which contribute to our objectives and assist in creating effective business processes and communications tools. The ideal candidate will have the ability to translate operational needs into technical development

  • An understanding of web applications and the ability to communicate and liaise with software developers to improve and evolve custom web-based software according to the needs of the company. 
  • Take over of new Drupal website development, liaising with developers and UX designer; future development of the site requiring a good knowledge and understanding of Drupal CMS
  • Working knowledge of modern web design including responsive design techniques
  • Development and integration of market research platforms and tools
  • Social media platforms and ability to be proactive and respond flexibly to changes in the way the world is communicating.
  • Manage projects from a technical perspective, managing budget and time frames, integration with other team members 

The ability to solve technical problems with primarily Apple computers and equipment, and other IT infrastructure critical to smooth operations both in the UK and in our remote offices, including the support of;

  • Communication networks,video conferencing and webinar tools
  • Internet 
  • MAC software support
  • Administrator of google account for business use 
  • IT backup, disaster recovery and business continuity plan development and implementation

Person Specification

  • Front-end web design experience
  • Working experience of HTML, CSS and javascript
  • Ability to learn and operate new software quickly
  • Experience in best practice SEO
  • Drupal software experience 
  • Working knowledge of graphics software including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Project management expertise and experience of critically evaluating the value against budget for a small business
  • Remote support experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively to non technical staff
  • Strongly identify with our core principles and values as an organisation, with an enthusiasm for wildlife conservation
