African Conservation Experience work with a number of international schools and universities every year to create highly educational, rewarding and hands-on field trips. Each itinerary is worked out personally with the trip leader to ensure that the content fits with the learning objectives, module curriculum or contributes to work experience and CV building for your group. If you are a teacher, lecturer, professor or a student who would like to find out more about the bespoke academic trips ACE can put together for you, you can find out more here, contact us directly, or you can email us at email@example.com
If you are a small group of friends or family looking to join one of our regular conservation projects, please submit an application form. Any of the programmes in the Wildlife Conservation Courses section make for great private group experiences and are suitable for groups of 6 or more. If you are looking for a more bespoke field trip experience for a larger group (8 or more), please contact us to discuss your ideas, so that we can plan the best experience for you.
The programmes below are examples of field and group trips that we have run successfully in the past. You can base your own group trip on any of these, or create your own – feel free to send us your wish list! You can contact us directly or you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
WILDLIFE VETERINARY COURSE
Working under the supervision of a South African wildlife veterinarian, this programme gives groups of veterinary medicine or pre-vet students the chance to gain hands-on experience in the field, as well as the opportunity to learn about chemical immobilisation of wildlife.
CAS FIELD TRIP FOR IB SCHOOLS
Conservation is a crucial global issue, which makes it a great topic for International Baccalaureate students to explore as part of their CAS programme. This sample school trip takes students to Africa and engages them in practical conservation service, new challenges and critical debate about conservation issues, all whilst linking with the CAS learning outcomes.
SERVICE LEARNING TRIP
With its rich natural resources and cultural diversity South Africa is perfect for an experience-based service college trip. Students will make a real contribution to conservation and community projects and learn to think about their own values and the role they will want to play in our global society.
AFRICAN ECOSYSTEMS FIELD COURSE
This course is put together with a view to giving students maximum exposure to the wildlife and habitats of southern Africa. In this college trip, learning takes place predominantly in the field during practical wildlife research work, game drives, bush walks and sleep-outs.
