The main motivation for this trip was to see if conservation is a field I want to pursue in the future. I’m really interested in biology and wanted to explore if becoming a game ranger, or something similar, would be enjoyable for me and worth studying at university. I also feel like this trip has helped me relax after a tough school year and showed me that while school is important, there’s so much more outside of the classroom.
My highlight of this trip was helping to take down old wire fences which will help animals roam more freely. Working as a group to achieve this goal made it a very special moment.
It felt really rewarding to contribute to something larger than myself.
I also really enjoyed learning about true Africa. We had some very educational talks about the issues of poaching and it highlighted to me the complexity of the issue. I am looking forward to going home and sharing this experience to hopefully raise awareness about these conservation issues.
From this trip I feel like I’ve learned more about myself and met many cool people. If anyone is considering doing something like this, I would say that even if you are hesitant, just do it!
This week has been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.
We had fun, met amazing people, learned new things, and helped others. It's everything you could dream of. Trust me, it's worth it!
I’m looking forward to going home and sharing my stories about the animals we saw and the experiences we had. I also hope to educate people about everything I learnt about conservation.
