Longer Wildlife Adventures

African wildlife adventures

More time. More impact. More Africa.

Feel the earth tremble as a herd of elephants passes within metres of your vehicle. Share a quiet moment with an orphaned rhino as you prepare her morning feed. Trace lion tracks across the vast African savannah. Then meet your fellow travellers around the campfire to share stories of the day as hyenas’ calls fill the evening air.

Our Longer Wildlife Adventures give you more time to make incredible memories like these. More opportunities to visit different wildlife projects. And more impact to help save Africa’s wildlife.

Adventures in Africa

For those who want more than a holiday

For many travellers, the thrill of a traditional safari has already been ticked off the bucket list. So how do they make their next trip to Africa something more?

For others, who have never been to Africa before, the idea of a safari isn't exciting enough, as they want to discover a side of Africa that few others get to see. To embark on a unique, rare experience and discover real wildlife conservation.

So we created our longer African wildlife adventures for both of them. For people like you. For those ready to go beyond observational safaris. For those who want to actively contribute to conservation on the ground. Whether you're helping monitor predator populations or assisting in wildlife rehabilitation, each day adds value. Not just to your experience, but to Africa’s ecosystems.

And these wildlife expeditions are immersive by design. You'll live alongside conservation professionals and like-minded travellers, becoming part of a team. With more than two weeks on the ground, you’ll move beyond fleeting glimpses and form lasting connections with the land, the wildlife, and the people who protect them. Instead of only seeing a flash of colour in the undergrowth, a brief glance of the elusive African wild dog - you'll now directly support their habitat management and survival. That's how different these experiences can be.

The power of staying longer

Africa doesn’t reveal her secrets in a single sunrise. Our adventures in Africa are ideal for travellers who want to enjoy each moment and absorb the complexity of true conservation work. By staying for longer, you'll have time to contribute meaningfully across multiple projects, or dive deeper into specific conservation work. You'll also have time to learn both the challenges and the opportunities of wildlife conservation, giving you a richer appreciation for the long-term goals of each project.

FAQs

How long are these trips?

Most of our wildlife expeditions last for 2 weeks minimum, making them ideal for travellers with more time to spare. If you would like a shorter trip, we also offer Wildlife Breaks Up To 14 Nights.

Who are these trips best suited for?

Our longer wildlife adventures are ideal for those looking for a more meaningful, hands-on experience. Many of our travellers have been on safari before but now want to get closer to conservation efforts and discover a side of wildlife management and care they only observed last time. Others are first-time visitors to Africa who simply have a passion for nature!

How physically demanding are the wildlife expeditions?

Each experience online has Rhino Ratings, which will give you an idea on how strenuous they are. If you’re worried about whether you’ll be able to meet the physical demands of your preferred experience, we’ll be happy to chat with you about the requirements in more detail.

How will I support conservation efforts?

Depending on the project, you may assist with wildlife monitoring, habitat restoration, or animal care and husbandry.

We only partner with wildlife research projects in Africa that either support fully self-sustaining animal populations or follow an "assisted sustainable" model, where minimal human intervention supports long-term viability. All our partner animal rehabilitation centres strictly follow the animal welfare standards set by SATSA and ABTA, ensuring that animals live as naturally as possible while receiving the highest standards of care, ethical treatment, and conservation value. Both types of work align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and we are also proud to be affiliated with leading global organisations like WWF and the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT), so you know your contribution will be delivering high conservation value.

Where in Africa do these wildlife expeditions take place?

Our trips take place across southern Africa. Each destination offers incredible wildlife, landscapes, and unique conservation challenges and opportunities.

What are the best wildlife trips?

We have several incredible itineraries that combine wildlife research and management and animal care and husbandry, so you can experience the full range of wildlife conservation in Africa. For a three-week trip, we suggest A New Side To The Kruger or Masters Of The Wild Experience, and for a four-week trip we suggest The Three Frontiers Wildlife Experience, and From Famous Kruger To Remote Okavango - this one visits two countries, as well!

How do I plan my experience?

Take the first step on your adventure in Africa by simply submitting an enquiry form. We offer wildlife conservation opportunities based on your experience, goals, and interests. You can visit a Single project or even combine multiple projects to create an exciting Combined experience. You can find out more about how we take time to create a customised African Conservation Experience that’s just right for you here.

We can't wait to speak with you about the best African wildlife adventures!
